Description
Set of five 30-40 Krag dummy rounds / snap-caps / fake bullets. Designed to replace the 45-70 Gov, it was adopted by the US Army in the early 1890s alongside the Krag-Jorgensen rifle. Together they replaced the venerable .45-70 Government and “Trapdoor” Springfield which had been in service since shortly after the War of Northern Aggression (Civil War). It was the standard rifle caliber until it was replaced by the 30-03 and, quickly thereafter, the world-renown 30-06 Springfield cartridge in the early twentieth century.
This was the cartridge used by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders on “San Juan Hill” during the Spanish-American War. It also became a popular hunting cartridge in the US civilian market and was offered as a chambering in many hunting rifles including the Winchester 1894 lever-action.
Great for safely function checking, as an addition to your re-enactment kit, or displaying with your fine piece of military history.
Available with spent primers in, empty primer pockets, holes drilled in cases, or rubber inserts added to the primer pockets. Properly sized and seated.
