Description
Set of five 5.56 NATO / .223 Remington (5.56×45) dummy rounds / snap-caps / fake bullets. This cartridge was introduced in the 1960’s to the US military by Armalite and their AR-15 (Armalite Rifle) which became the M-16. It was first adopted by the US Air Force due to its light weight and compact size, but was quickly made the standard rifle caliber of all US and NATO forces. The 5.56 NATO replaced the 7.62 NATO as the front-line infantry rifle caliber during the Vietnam War and has been the standard to this day. It is dimensionally the same as the .223 Remington, but just like the 7.62 NATO / .308 Winchester, the 5.56 is the military designation and is generally loaded to higher pressures. These dummy rounds will work with both.
Available with spent primers remaining, empty primer pockets, holes drilled in the cases, or rubber inserts added to the primer pockets.

The cases are a little dirtier than the pictures suggest but I was able to clean them up with some soap and light sanding with a scotch brite pad. Worked really well for a Halloween costume where I turned them into vest buttons!

These are all well made inert cartridges. I was worried about the bullet being pushed back into the casing mouth after several cycling’s, but the bullets aren’t budging after dozens of dry firing. And the rubber disc in the primer pocket is holding very well. (And that’s the only way to distinguish these from live rounds) I’m EXTREMELY impressed by these!
